The Repair Economy Network is formed by repair event organizers, tool library managers, makerspace leads, volunteer fixers, repair/reuse business owners, city and county solid waste coordinators, policy experts, educators, and circular economy enthusiasts – from across the US and around the globe! If you’d like to join the community and the conversation, we’d love to have you! Some of the opportunities to connect include:
Monthly Repair Economy Organizers Virtual Shop Talks: Open to all those involved (or interested) in hosting repair events, organizing libraries of things, and running remakeries. Join your repair economy peers the 3rd Thursday of every month at 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern.
Annual Repair Economy Summit: A 2-day virtual gathering of the network to highlight the exciting work being done, share best practices, get updates on relevant policy, and collaborate for bigger impact. (typically held in late fall/early winter)
You can also join the Repair Economy community hub on Hylo and jumpstart a conversation or even a project!
Thinking of starting your own fix-it or repair fair?
There’s no “right way” to run a fix-it event. They’re a constantly evolving process and should reflect the communities where they happen. However, there are some general principles that can make them more successful. Plus, everyone can use a little help! Complete this short form and we’ll send you the Quick Start Guide, the Comprehensive Fix-it Fair Handbook, and other helpful resources! It’s all FREE!
Repair Reuse WA is the organizing entity behind the Repair Economy website and network gatherings (whose members span the globe). We’re a small “shop” with the mighty goals of elevating repair and reuse by supporting and connecting the network, sharing best practices, highlighting the amazing work done across the network, and helping the public find and access repair and reuse more easily.
Some of the current needs are:
– Website / technical wizardry
– Marketing / social media know how
– Strategic planning for small organizations
– Creating collaborative structures for resource sharing
– Research and curation thereof
If you have time and talents that you’d like to lend to these efforts, let us know!
